Abstract

Objectives : To investigate the efficacy of oriental medicine treatment for hypolordosis of the cervical spine in whiplash injury patients.
Methods : A clinical study was carried out in 33 whiplash injury inpatients. The cervical curvature was measured using Jackson`s angle and Cobb angle(C1-C7). Neck pain was measured using visual analogue scale(VAS) and neck pain and disability scale(NPDS). The efficacy after treatment was statistically measured by t-test and the statistical relationships were measured with Spearman`s coefficient of correlation.
Results : Neck pain(VAS, NPDS) had significant improvement after oriental medicine treatment. Cervical curvature had significant improvement after oriental medicine treatment.
Conclusions : The result suggest that the hypolordosis of cervical spine in whiplash injury patients can be effectively improved by oriental medicine treatment.
